Can I buy Plumtec Plus at convenience stores? We interviewed them about the availability of the unit and cigarette capsules and why they are not sold!

Hello,Heated cigarette blogger Genki (@MOQLOG_JP)It is.

Convenience stores are the most familiar place for smokers to purchase cigarettes, but it is surprising that they now sell not only cigarettes but also heated devices and even electronic cigarettes.

This time from a reader.."Plumtec Plus is not sold at convenience stores.Do you know why?"so we went to several nearby convenience stores to check on the situation.

I looked around at the sales of the starter kit itself and cigarette capsules and concluded thatThey didn't sell any at all...We were also able to hear the reasons for this, so please refer to the following.

Plume x sales at convenience stores! Thorough investigation of the price of the starter kit itself and the types of exclusive flavors available.

What is Plumtec Plus?

For those of you who are not familiar with it, Plumtec Plus is JT's low-temperature heated tobacco device, which is a more responsive smoking model of Plumtec.

Please see the differences in JT's list of devices currently on the market.

Product name	type	personal use tobacco	selling price	Description of each model
Ploom TECH	Low-temperature heating typetobacco	tobacco capsule *Tech only	2,500 yen	Model released in 2016 during the Icos boom.
Plumtec Plus	Low-temperature heating typetobacco	tobacco capsule *Plus exclusive use	2,980 yen	Enhanced smoking experience" model developed in response to complaints about the lack of smoking experience of PlumTec.
Plumtec Plus Wiz	Low-temperature heating typetobacco	tobacco capsule *Plus exclusive use	2,980 yen	Enhanced Ease of Use" model developed to improve the difficulty of using Plumtec Plus
Plume-X	High-temperature heating typetobacco	tobacco stick *Plume x only	3,980 yen	A "smoking feel similar to a paper cigarette" model similar to Icos and Glow.

Plumtec PlusHa,Enhanced Plume Tec smoking experienceandPlus and With.It can be seen that

Since Icos and Glow only released high-temperature heated tobacco devices, the older series were being phased out, but only Plume all remained and the only one that was phased out was Plume s, the predecessor of Plume x.

Plume s sales ended. Why did they end the sale... It's a shame because the cut was outstanding.

The conclusion is that this is the reason for the large number of series, but before we get to that, please see what the official website says about the sales situation.

According to the official website and past press releases, the convenience store is also the main subject of this article,Originally, they would have sold the starter kit itself and cigarette capsules.........................

However, as I wrote at the beginning of this article,Starter kits and even cigarette capsules (cartridges) are not enough.

I am very sorry to be a bit forward, but in explaining why, it is necessary to mention "exclusive cigarettes," so let me introduce those as well.

Types of Plumtec Plus exclusive cigarettes

The dedicated cigarettes for each model, including Plumtec Plus, are as follows

If you add up all the flavors available in PlumeTech, PlumeTech Plus, and Plume x34 types → Due to a series of end-of-life sales, there are now a total of 26 flavors: 16 Plume X, 6 Plume Tec, and 4 Plume Tec Plus.

Aside from Icos, which has the number one market share, there are quite a few Plum series as well.

The reason why Plumtec Plus, as well as Plumtec, are rarely found in convenience stores is due to the number of models and flavors that are available.

Why can't I buy Plumtec Plus at convenience stores?

Plume Series	Why can't I buy it at a convenience store?	Sales at Convenience Stores
Convenience store limited color	Can I buy it at a convenience store at a discount?	Back to Table of Contents

A year or two ago, I would have.Plumtec Plusschool (e.g. of ikebana)Also available at convenience stores.but nowMost stores don't sell it..

I will show you the actual sales situation at a nearby convenience store later, but first I asked why they don't sell it (i.e., they don't have it).

If you are a main user of Plumtec Plus, you may be thinking "What the heck! but there are some parts of the story that make sense to us.

Why can't I buy it at a convenience store: Plumtec Plus Body

It's such a small box, you can put it there, right? But recently, the number of device types and colors has been increasing, and there is no place to put them.

Especially recently, they can't put it there because they are using 4 spaces for Icos Irma alone (2 colors each for Irma and Irma One), 2 for the new Plume x, and 2 for Glow Hyper X2 and Glow Pro....

Convenience stores do business in a limited space, so they select products in order of sale.

When it comes to Plumtec Plus, many stores carry Wiz, and they sell more Wiz than Plumtec Plus 1.5, so they carry Wiz.

If you can only put one more type, the new Plume x! Of course, the reason is that Plume x is what is selling now, but that seems to be the atmosphere.

JT's current focus is on Plume x, so it is only natural that they would not allow Plume x to fall off the shelves. Plume x is the only device that JT is focusing on right now, so it's only natural.

Why you can't buy them at convenience stores: Plumtec Plus cigarette capsules

The shelves of cigarettes in convenience stores are limited in terms of which manufacturers and how many types can be placed on them, and the shelf allocation means that only up to six types can be placed on the shelves.

This shelf allocation is determined through negotiations between each convenience store headquarters and the manufacturer's sales force, and is done several times a year.

As I mentioned earlier, convenience stores make their profits by accumulating thin profit margins in a limited space, so they basically only display products that sell.

Flavors that sell only occasionally are quickly replaced by flavors that sell well.

Summary of why you can't buy Plumetech Plus at convenience stores

Here is a summary of why Plumtec Plus is rarely available at convenience stores.

I haven't mentioned sales because of the market share impact, but the situation for PlumTec is even worse.

In addition, there is another subtle point of concern, and that is the number of places where PlumTecs can be purchased.

With products previously only available on the official website and in Ploom stores now also available on Rakuten Market and Yahoo Shopping, have sales at convenience stores dropped? Some people say that this is a good thing.

Perhaps the fact that the main unit is not sold, but only the cigarette capsules, may be due to the expansion of these sales channels.

Convenience stores also have different selections in different stores.

Some stores have a product selection comparable to that of a tobacco shop, so there may be differences in product selection between directly managed and franchise stores.

As usual, Seven here is not treating cigarettes well. pic.twitter.com/UZpdk8rCuk

- Suk2022 (@shirono77) January 31, 2017

I went there once when I was an office worker, and the cigarettes, which are usually placed behind the cash register, were all over the general shelves as soon as I walked in....

Moreover, 7-Eleven's love for cigarettes is too strong, with cigarette rankings and other information on the site.

Since there are stores like this, the lineup is likely to change somewhat depending on the owner's taste and familiarity with the salesman.

Summary of Plumtec Plus sales at convenience stores

It may be that they just happened to be out of stock or overlooked, but the results were generally as follows.

Sales status of the starter kit itself

Plumtec...Not for sale.

Plumtec Plus With...I sell it sometimes.
Plume-X...Almost every store sells them.

Plumtec Plus With...Same as plus
Plume-X...Almost all types

Many of the smaller convenience stores had small backyards and cigarette shelves, so the variety of cigarettes was small.

Since convenience stores carry very few of these devices, we recommend that you use the official store if you want to purchase devices other than the new Plume x.

When the product was first released, it was available in five colors, but whether you look at the official website or Rakuten, etc., only the standard colors, white and black, are sold.

Plumtec Plus has been available in limited edition colors several times, but no limited edition colors have been released for convenience stores.
