Good evening,Heated cigarette blogger Genki (@MOQLOG_JP)It is.
Just the other day, my beloved second-generation holder did not recover from the red light and went dead (tears).
Recently, the charger has been running at full capacity as a standard item, and the number of times it needs to be recharged has been decreasing, so I thought, "Is it about time?" I thought it was about time, but it was sooner than I expected.
Today, thisIt's no longer working.Icos HolderusingDIYThe challenge is to
Revive the Icos holder by disassembling & replacing the battery!
I had originally planned to disassemble it when it was no longer usable, so I initially planned to only disassemble it, but I found something interesting while cruising around amazon.
Icos HolderのReplacement BatteryI'm a guy who says, "I'm a guy who says, 'I'm a guy who says.
So there,If we're going to take it apart anyway, let's see if we can also replace the battery and bring it back to life!So you thought.
We have received a replacement battery for this battery, so if you are interested, please take a look at it!
Please note that we cannot guarantee anything if the problem is not fixed.
What you need to disassemble the Icos Holder

I had done my research on what I might use beforehand, so I was not in a hurry,Some things are not common, so if you plan to disassemble (replace the battery), it's a good idea to have them ready before you do it..
Also, there are various types of Icos replacement batteries, and the place I bought mine came with a "replacement battery" and a "replacement manual with pictures", but be aware that some stores may have a string attached or just the battery.
The replacement procedure is covered, but we will assume that only the battery was sent to you to prepare.
1. Replacement battery

This is sold on amazon and Rakuten, though,One point to make is.Items with metal fittings soldered onIt is easier to work with if you choose.
There was a store on amazon selling it for about $300, but I quit because it was too cheap compared to other stores.
Batteries are difficult to recognize when an inferior product comes along.
To replace old Icos Holder batteries.
Soldering iron & copper wire

I purchased mine at a home improvement center, but apparently they are also sold at 100 yen stores.
Originally available for around 1,000 yen, a 100 yen store item (it was 300 yen) seems sufficient if you have no other use for it.
Also,Don't forget to have copper wire as well, otherwise you can't solder..
Used to connect the base in the holder to the battery when replacing the battery.
3. Stainless steel and other wire materials

You can substitute strings or other materials, though,Choose something thin and sturdy!.
I actually did not prepare this because I thought it would come with it, but it broke when I used a string, so I ended up substituting a wire used in a vape.
It is definitely advisable to prepare these items on your own, as they are always used for clean disassembly.
The sturdier the better, as it will be used to pull the holder apart by hooking it into a groove.
4. Rubber gloves

It could have been done without it, but I used it because it hurts to pull out the inside of the holder with "bare hands"..
I personally think it is better to prepare them because they are not slippery and it is easier to put effort into them.
I did this with the military gloves I use for savage games, but these are also available at 100 yen stores, so there is no need for expensive ones.
It is easier to work with if it is there because the string digs in and hurts when pulling out the inside of the holder.
Icos Holder Disassembly Process

Battery replacement can only be done after disassembling the holder, so we will start by explaining how to disassemble it.
The disassembly itself is a simple procedure, so there should be no problem if you do it the same way.
However, only the process of pulling it out was extremely difficult,It takes a lot of power, so be prepared!.
1. Pull out the contents from the outer parts using a stainless steel wire rod!

So suddenly I was struggling,Just pull it through the stainless steel wire rod (string) as shown in the photo..
However, I am not sure if I am hooked on cleanliness or not, but I don't freak out a bit.
I could not pull it out by pulling left and right with both hands, so I finally pulled it out by attaching a screwdriver to the end of the stainless steel wire rod, stepping on it with my foot, and pulling with my entire body.
2. Remove what you can for now!

If you successfully pull it out from the outer parts, you will find the contents as shown in the photo.
First, remove the buttons and rings..
The button is designed to catch the tip of the foot, so remove that part and slide it off.
The ring also fits into the groove, so it can be removed without cracking if it is floated slightly and slid to the blade side.
3. Pull out more contents from the black parts!

If you remove the buttons and rings, you can see much more of the inside.
Next, the contents must be removed from the black cylinder, so they are pulled together again from side to side.
Not as much as the outer parts,As well, it's hard to pull off,You might want to press down on the bottom of the blade with something or other..
4. All that remains is to remove the battery!

If you remove the black tube as well.disassemblycompletionThe structure is simple.
From the top, it consists of roughly three parts: the blade (+ base), the base, and the battery.
The simplicity of the structure allows for blade replacement as well as battery replacement.
Supplement: Close-up images of each part

Battery bottom

Since I went through the trouble, I have also included a detailed image.
Don't you feel like you could do something with this?
Now it's time to try to replace the battery!

All you have to do is remove the battery and replace it, but there is a part that is fixed to the base by soldering, so you have to cut that part to remove it.
Naturally, the new battery must also be soldered in place, so I recommend concentrating and working more slowly than power here.
1. Remove the fittings on the bottom of the battery.

Since this was just placed in the gap, I could easily remove it by pinching it with my fingers.
Keep it in a safe place so that you do not lose it as it will be reattached after replacement.
2. Remove only the bottom of the battery.

Removing the metal fittings mentioned earlier creates a gap between the base part and the battery.
Insert tweezers or other fine-tipped object there and remove the battery as if pushing it out.
3. Disconnect the base and battery

The base and the tip of the battery are soldered together, so cut them off with nippers or the like.
At this point, the power was still on, so we wore military gloves just to be safe.
4. With the battery removed

When the battery is removed, the image is shown.
All that remains is to insert the replacement battery you have purchased.
5. Remove the battery film.

The film must be removed to energize the device, so the wrapped film is removed from the minus area.
At this time, it is extremely dangerous to scratch the surface, so please do not use cutters or scissors, but gently peel it off with fingernails or other tools.
6. Temporary placement setting

Now, plug in the battery and see which area you need to solder.
Since it was on the foundation, we bent the tip a little and it was ready to go.
7. Soldering

It's a bit... not quite, but quite ugly, but the connection is complete.
I was nervous because I hadn't used solder in 30 years. I was nervous because I hadn't used solder in 30 years, but I was able to fix it safely.
8. Check to see if the power is energized.

You can confirm that the power is energized by pressing the power button and seeing it glow red.
Now that the mountainous point has been exceeded, all that remains is to attach the parts in the reverse order.
How to put back each part

There are no special difficulties, but there are a few key points that I would like to mention.
Let's work hard to complete the battery replacement!
1. Fit the metal parts to the bottom of the battery.

The metal parts that were removed when removing the battery are now fitted into the gap at the bottom.
but it goes in scuffed, so be careful not to drop it the other way.
2. Put the base part back into the black tube.

The base part, in which the base and other components are installed, is put back into the black tube, but it did not fit well because various objects got caught in the gap circled in red at the bottom.
It is best to insert it slowly while holding the part that is caught with a finger or other object.
3. Install power button

The power button should be inserted so that it slides out from the bottom as shown in the image.
To be sure, it is a good idea to check for current flow at this time as well.
Put the ring on.

Slowly lower the ring from the top down to the button area, and it will snap into place.
Be careful with this part, as it is easily broken.
5. Once the power button and ring are in place, insert the outer parts.

It may have been difficult to take it out, but it also requires power to fit it in.
Be careful not to insert the ring with a "thud" as it may slip out of place.
6. Battery replacement complete!

Once the outer parts are also hooked up securely, battery replacement is complete.
Put the cap on the holder and do a final check for proper charging.
7. Confirm charging

The battery was successfully charged, so the battery replacement was a success!
Good night!
I smoked it after the battery change.

After charging was completed, I tried to use it, but the light did not come on... Oh, is that a failure? I pulled out the heat stick, but something like vapor came out, so I inserted the heat stick again and waited for a while.
I wish I could smoke it - I wish I could
It seems that the startup lamp has been damaged and only the red lamp is working!.
Since the base is 2.4, the lack of vibration is critical, and I don't know if it is working, but when I press and hold it, it was working....................
I guess I soldered too badly and something went wrong somewhere.
In my own scoring, I would like to end by saying that this battery replacement was a 3 out of 10..........................better just to be able to move at least.
postscript
How was it?
In this issue, we introduced the series of steps from disassembly to battery replacement.
Although the results were a bit disappointing, the work process itself is the same as the instructions that came with the battery, so I think the flow is the same.
If you still have your favorite or memorable Icos, it's worth a try!
